Medieval Bridge

This 14th century gem was only one of the many interesting and beautiful sights we encountered today. We began our journey this morning at a very imposing cathedral, spent a while winding through a dense and colorful forest, staggered uphill for 2.8 kilometers in one shot, got barked at by a wide variety of dogs, strolled through quaint villages, and got passed by a Korean couple twice. It would only have been once but they found the bar/restaurant along the way that we somehow missed. Thank goodness for the energy bars we had in our backpacks. At 18 kms we were both ready to call it a day but, we had to keep going. We made it to our next stop just short of the average time recommended. Jim, thanks for your comment; feet were happy for most of the day but were more than ready to get out of the boots towards the end. After a rest, we are enjoying a cervesa in the bar, comparing aches and pains, and wondering how our 33 km hike to Olvieria will go tomorrow. We hear there is another big long hill.

  1. If it's anything like the cycling trip I took in Ireland, after day three your body will start to adjust to the routine. By the end of the tour, you will miss the walking.
